It began with a photo.
Rafael Jordà Siquier, and several founding team members at Open Cosmos, shot the above image while students at university. The picture left a lasting impression and created an idea: to provide simple, affordable space missions.
Fast forward and Rafael’s vision began to take shape. First through education: by selling electronic boards to students and teaching them how to build satellites.
Then in July 2015, Open Cosmos was founded at the prestigious Entrepreneur First incubator programme. A short six months later, a resourceful, dedicated team (consisting of Mark, Bastian, Han, Aleix, Jordi,) delivered their first small satellite: qbee. Since the qb01 development, we’ve been approached by companies in telecoms, remote sensing applications, and larger organisations like the European Space Agency. And we’re just getting started!
