Open Cosmos is revolutionising the way space technology is used.
Driven by the vision of making space accessible to anyone and advancing science and technology,  we provide simple and affordable access to space using nanosatellite technology. We went from design to delivery of QB01, our first nanosatellite,  in only four months, followed by a launch and deployment in LEO early April 2017.
The company is currently developing the next generation of satellites and end-to-end services for private and institutional customers to be launched in 2018. Based in the Harwell-Oxford Campus in the UK, we are a young and ambitious team with experience in the aerospace, electronics and software industries. Description of the position

Marketing and Public Relations is a key area in our development strategy. You will support in positioning Open Cosmos as a customer centric, customer success focused company in the eyes of customers and partners by defining strategies and creating physical and digital branded materials. The selected candidate will be working closely with the commercial and management teams and report directly to the CEO.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Together with the sales and management teams, define Open Cosmos’ value proposition, marketing MIX, and PR strategy
  • Execute marketing and PR strategy through action plans and events
  • Identify the best way to leverage marketing and PR to meet business objectives
  • Lead, setup and execute marketing concepts and campaigns in order to increase brand awareness of Open Cosmos solutions and services
  • Handle market analysis – carry out research into verticals, regions and markets in support of focused customer acquisition
  • Manage PR campaigns including planning, logistics, execution, and on-site management
  • Create meaningful moments for the event / booth guests
  • Develop and manage budgets for each event; create reports to track overall expenditures across all events
  • Responsible for sourcing new venues and vendors for events and shows
  • Define and manage marketing and PR Key Performance Indicators
  • Monitor marketing, events, and PR campaigns Return On Investment

Skills and competences

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years’ experience in marketing, PR, events, or a customer experience-related field
  • Understanding of core marketing competencies including MIX, content marketing, advertising, brand and events management.
  • Highly organised, detail oriented, and possess a proven ability to thrive under deadline pressure and to execute on a number of projects
  • Comfortable working with highly technical topics and demonstrate an aptitude for translating business goals into actionable programs
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic, results oriented team environment
  • Social media savvy, experience defining and executing social media action plans to meet business objectives
  • Strong MS PowerPoint and MS Excel skills
  • Fluent English, spoken and written

Nice-to-haves

  • Existing network and/or interest in the space, IoT, telecommunication, remote sensing, or data science industries
  • Experience using LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter to communicate to a business audience
  • Experience with Illustrator and Photoshop tools
  • Knowledge of WordPress
  • Previous successful international experience
  • Fluency in German, Spanish, French, or Chinese a plus
